This is another of those posts that will cover a lot of topics. We won’t be in Buenos Aires until Sunday so we have two sea days.

Those of you who were on the QE2 will remember the infamous laundry room . There was only one room for self service laundry for the whole ship and potentially over 2000 users. If this room could talk I could not repeat the tales it would tell since this is a family friendly blog. This ship has a self service laundry room on every deck with cabins and so far the worse I have heard is criticism of a woman who hit the button for soap so many times her washer was half soap. I was told you only have to hit the button once don’t you know because the sign says so and it is environmentally friendly soap. My rebellious nature has me hitting the button twice and I believe I have hit the happy medium required.

Did receive another certificate suitable for framing and that is for my appearance in the Antarctic. Won an umbrella with the HAL logo and was given a cap with the HAL logo. I also received a beautiful travel clock with battery attached.

I was looking at the ship photos and actually saw that another lady had a black and white top just like mine. Not a happy thing but I wore mine for the black and white ball and she wore hers for another formal night.

Like all cruises that I have been on some of the entertainment is excellent and some is pretty bad. We had a fantastic group called The Pampa Devils recently who performed the tango and other folkloric dances. We also had a great soprano and a good baritone. We have a violinist who plays every night in one of the lounges and he is the father of one of the on board hairdressers. He is excellent.

Just received my second statement and with all the credits and my winnings at bingo I only spent just over $80 and I am questioning a $50 charge for luggage service which I believed was completely free. If I prevail that means I only spent just over $30 for this time period.. Next period I won’t be so lucky since I am signing up for two more tours in Africa. Both tours are with cruise specialists; Swakopmund and Namib Desert Drive and SOS Children’s Village Benefit Tour.

Stay tuned for tomorrow and the next day as we will be in Buenos Aires . And, a very interesting going away party for Casey Moran takes place tonight in the Crows Nest.

  1. I recall the Rotterdam passing the QE2 on the muddy River Platt as we departed Montevideo in 2008 without the two passengers who showed up too late. How far is Buenos Aires from the spot ya'll dock? We in South Carolina are very fond of our new state song --- "Don't cry for me, Argentina!" Don.

  2. Judi, are there any of the Virtuoso Group tours provided on your voyage on each leg? Do you have two Virtuoso hosts? Cruise Specialists is a member of the Virtuoso Group. Five wonderful tours with lunches were given on the QE2 to those who booked with Virtuoso Group travel agents. I hope such a perk will be on the 2011 World Voyage of the magnificent Queen Mary 2. Don (again)

  3. I am wondering the same thing as Don as our travel agency is associated with Virtuoso also and I had the same free tours as Don did on the QE2 and QV. It'd be great to have CS AND Virtuoso free tours.

  4. Hi, Judi -- What a disappointment that you didn't get to land in the Falklands. I just told John and he groaned. He is still disappointed that we didn't get there. Your voyage sure doesn't lack for excitement. Listing like that would have given me heart failure. Remember the ship that sank near Antartica a couple of years ago! As for snow --we got 25 inches a few days ago and they are forecasting another 15 inches for tomorrow -- here in DC where we usually get little snow. I almost feel like Susan when she wondered whether she would get out of snow-covered Colorado before our world voyage. Laura went to New Hampshire to ski with a friend, and the resort had to make snow!
