Istanbul --NOT and Lesbos, Greece

We did our sightseeing from the Deck in Istanbul.  One change was made and the crew who were scheduled to leave were taken to the airport so they were able to disembark.  The Captain took us up the Bosperas (?sp) Strait up to the Black Sea and then back on our way to Lesbos.

Lesbos was another easy walking town and Margo, Harry and I walked to the Cathedral.  Souvenier shops, bakeries, candy stores and cafes were open but not much more.  It is Sunday.  The Greek Easter is around the 20th of April.  The candy stores were incredible with all their Easter goodies.  The Cathedral was a beauty both in and out.

We received a letter from the Captain saying we are going to Kusadasi tomorrow.  Also, in that letter we will be getting free wine and/or beer at 5:30 this evening.  All along I have been saying he was making a big mistake by not doing so immediately.   A lot of the passengers on his ship are here because of the Istanbul stop.  Well. at least part of it.  I shouldn't blame the Captain.  Actually it is Seattle.  He can't do any thing without their direction.

Tomorrow is serious shopping day since I have seen all the local ruins on two prior visits.  I have been told by crew and passengers that this is the best shopping.  I wasn't able to shop before since I was on tours which took all the time.

  1. Hi, Judi -- Interesting that you skipped Istanbul. We have been wondering what will happen to our stop there. We still haven't heard anything, but we still have a while before we get there.
