My manicurist told me I was one tough old bird before I went under the knife and I have to say it takes a tough bird to go through this type of surgery. I am alive and anxious to start driving my new car. I will be able to get out tomorrow on my own.
I was a week in the ICU and over a week in CCU. I did have complications such as defibrillation (which is not unusual) and cannot speak above a whisper at this time. Losing my voice box made it difficult to cough which is part of recovery. I am getting speech therapy and as soon as I am able to cross the Narrows Bridge I will have voice therapy. I am making progress and do believe I will have full capacity to return to my wise cracking ways.
There is no way I will be able to meet the ship so I will just have to look forward to the 2013 WC. This is disappointing but I am completely free of cancer at this time. My luggage certainly must have enjoyed the veranda suite upgrade.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, telephone calls and emails. They brightened my days and obviously brought me through this difficult time.
I have been checking in daily to read about your progress and was so happy to see this appear today. Wonderful to read that you are cancer free, working on getting your voice back and you have such a great attitude. Keep up all the good work, the bright attitude and please keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteFabulous that you are planning on another world cruise and I assume it will be on the Amsterdam again. Reading many blogs about this year's wc and it's been enlightening and impressive. Great itinerary. We have booked the next wc on the Queen Victoria and we're thrilled.
Aloha, Patti
Pleased to read that you are on the mend though it has been a great ordeal for you. It was quite a scare! We are thankful that you're feeling stronger and seem to be your usual bright self.Keep up the good work and we look forward to reading your world cruise blog in 2013.

Wonderful to hear that you're on the mend and getting ready for your new wheels. Next time go see your doctor and pass up on the automotive start to the process. Will look forward to your reports on the 2013 wc. If you're going with HAL it looks like a great trip. Meanwhile do what the therapists say and get well fast. All the best, Kate
ReplyDeleteI am ecstatic over your report, Old Chick. You sound ready to hunt bear. I know you will enjoy 2013 WC on the ms Amsterdam. But think seriously of the WC in 2014 on the Queen Victoria, as I hope that I shall be on board! All the best, Don, Lord Kay of Shandon.
