I found my island paradise, Bora Bora. What a beautiful pristine island and in spite of the French influence the people are super. I have never been here before and this was my first new port of the cruise other than the Cayman Islands. I even surprised myself with the excitement I felt and did I make a good choice to take a tour. I normally don’t take tours on small islands but this CSI tour sounded great and it was. We went around the island in “Le Truk” with several photo opportunities. This unusual volcanic formed mountain is the focal point of the island. Need I say more.
Like Tahiti there is not much that I saw that I wanted to buy but these wraps (or table cloths) are first tie dyed. Then using cut outs from linoleum as patterns they spray dye and create marvelous wraps. I did buy one for $10 and that was a real bargain for the French Polynesian Islands.
We stopped at a resort hotel and my expectation was that we would have a tropical drink and some little munchies. The munchies turned out to be a large spread of finger foods and desserts . A pleasant relaxing picturesque resort.
Just before the end of the tour we stopped at the famous Bloody Marys. Who should be sitting at the bar but my friends Pat, Wayne and Joan. I grabbed my bag off “Le Truk” and sat down to have the world famous Bloody Mary at Bloody Marys. It’s the thing to do. Just like having a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel. They all had lunch but after the spread I had at the resort there was no possible chance for me to eat again.
Another one of the islands is Marquises. Why I am noting it is it is where Jaques Brel is buried.
As you all know I love sail-aways. The taking up of the anchors, ramps and the whistle as we set sail and Anchors Away playing in the background. I never tire of sail-aways. This one was wonderful what with the dark blue seas, the light aqua reefs, and the deep lush green of the islands
My husband and I stayed 6 days on Bora Bora some years ago when we flew to Tahiti and the other islands. It's my idea of Paradise. We had dinner at Bloody Mary's several times and biked around the island with picnic lunches. Pure Heaven!!
