Auckland was an overnight port and I had a tour the next day to go to the wine country not so much for the tasting but to see the area around Auckland since it was one of the original wine producing areas of the country. We went to the Nobilo, Kumeu River and the Soljans wineries. The Pinot Gris of the Kumeu River Winery was my favorite so I did buy a bottle for a special occasion on the ship. I just don’t know what that special occasion will be. We also stopped at a beach to view the Gannetts from a distance.
New Zealand is a beautiful country with very friendly people. If I were a young person I think I would immigrate to New Zealand.. The people population of New Zealand is 4.3 million. The sheep population is 45 million Each farmer has around 2000 sheep and use dogs to control them.
One thing I failed to mention for Don and his movie question. The ship has a new service where you dial 90 to have movies delivered to your cabin for viewing on your TV.
I think you should move to New Zealand. Then I would have an excuse to travel there. LOL The wine tour looks nice. A great way to have the best of 2 worlds, wine & local views. Barbie's cake is huge! I can't imagine it's for 1 person. Did the whole table share in it? Your birthday will be coming up shorly, you could open the pinot gris then.

ReplyDeleteI remember Aukland well. We took the tour to see the gannetts. The coastline there was quite impressive. Glad you got out there. Makes us wish we were there with you.
