Not a lot to report for the two sea days. It is always time to catch up on things and since my ironing pile was close to two feet high I decided to bite the bullet and get it done. I don’t mind ironing at home but I hate to take away from my time on the ship. A new comer Tony was doing the laundry for his wife so he stayed and chatted with me while I was ironing. They had been traveling by car in Europe and Africa so they decided to rest up and cruise to Singapore before heading home to Australia.

We had dinner with the pirates which was also a formal night and our poor waiter who can’t see without his glasses wasn’t wearing them because they were to wear an eye patch as part of their costume. We all assured him we did not mind his going out of character so he could see what he was serving us. This photo is of Malik his assistance and he did stay in character.

I went to my second mystery night which was at the opening of a new restaurant and was invited to be at the table with Ellen and Tom our CSI leaders. Besides the two of them we had a Russian Princess, Chop Chop Suey, Jacey Jones, the widow of Casey Jones, myself ( Effie Vescent) and Reggie “Rigor” Mortise, the owner of the Cock and Bull Restaurant in Texas, and who was also in oil. Chef Fuller Sheet was shot back in the kitchen. Detective Linc Sausage was called in to investigate the murder. Besides Reggie, the other suspects were Emily Ann”Em” Bezzel, business manager, Hedda Lettus, Society Gossip Columnist, Thomas P. Tomaine, Food Critic, Baron Frederick de Fleisseflappen, International Playboy, and Elizabeth “Betty” Crocker-Sheet, wife of Chef Fuller Sheet. After the questioning of the suspects we all agreed that the murderer was close indeed as he was at our table. And again I am heard to shout don’t say anything to the police as he was taken away in handcuffs. Such fun as we all remained in character.

I did get a photo of Reggie and you can see for yourself how good looking he is. When he is not acting for the mystery dinner he is our techspert for Windows. He is on ship with his new wife; on their honeymoon.

This is a good time to show you the painting that I have had to stare at twice now. This painting is truly awful with these dead fish eyes staring at you and a horse with one leg missing.

  1. I have a suggestion for the third Mystery dinner - "The case of the missing painting"
